Archipelago

There really is nothing better on a sunny or snowy day in Gothenburg than taking a trip by boat the Archipelago. There are actually two- one in the north one and one in the south. The one I have visited is the south and is made up of many islands, eight of which are inhabited. From my place you simply hop on the tram 11 to Salthomen and then take a boat (free if you already have a tram pass) to any one of the eight beautiful islands. Salthomen is actually a really nice to spot to visit by itself. Although perhaps be careful in the summer, if you don't fancy stumbling onto a nudist beach you might want to avoid it! I don't think you'd need to worry about it this time of the year though.

Everyone drives the most excellent scooters and golf buggies! When I arrived I immediately assumed they were to rent. Obviously the memory of the time we did that on Isla Mujeres in Mexico and my sister crashed into the curb is still pretty fresh! Remember Jen? (well crash may be an exaggeration since these things don't exactly go fast! but still). Sadly I soon realized I was just standing in a car park and the buggies in fact belonged to the residents! We took a short tour of the island by foot instead.

Such grand houses!

Soon the cold got the better of us and we headed back on the boat but I've since visited an island with a little more to see so I'll show you that another day.
